For the meaning of the test parameter F we refer to the mentioned paper. It tests the significance of the estimated difference delta mu. If one (or more) values F available for a star is greater than 3.44, the star is listed here. The F values concern the proper motion differences between FK5 and Hipparcos (column 6), the difference between mu0 and the FK pm, where mu0 is based on the FK position and Hipparcos' position, (column 7), the difference between mu0 and the Hipparcos pm (column 8), the difference between mu0 and the Hipparcos pm, where mu0 is based on the GC position and Hipparcos' position, (column 9), and between the pm given in the TYC2 and the Hipparcos pm (column 10). The file contains many newly detected binaries, but also already known binaries from other data, e.g. visual ones. In many cases of already known binaries, the F values should be considered as qualitative 'flags' for binarity only, since the proper motions compared may not refer to the same 'reference point' (e.g., HIPPARCOS refers to component A, while the FK5 to the center-of-mass). Columns 1 to 5 give star number, component, vis. magnitude, color, and parallax from the HIPPARCOS Cat. Columns 11,13, 14 tell, in which catalogue the star was found (BX: bright ext, FX: faint ext, RS: suppl. BA: basic of the FK5; GC; or TYC2). Columns 20 to 25 report star numbers in several Cats. and proper names.
