Field POSS-I O/524 ================== The plate catalogue for POSS-I O gives (in B1950 degrees) [352.50, 359.06, 9.64, 19.05] as margins for plate 524 -- this seems a tad large in dec. Also, the plate center is given as 355.204, 12.5267 (B1950) -- which is nowhere near the center of the specified field. Going three degrees north from the plate center, we arrive at roughly 16 degrees (never mind the equinox for now). Here's a table of how many stars are assigned to that plate depending north of delta: delta_0 #stars on plate delta>delta_0 16 122 17 121 18 121 19 27 20 0 This strikes me as odd... One of the objects northward of delta=19 is the one at 357.468325 19.022420 (J2000 degs), and going back to the source (/109/b1090.cat), there's really "05 0 524 2095" in 20-23, i.e., it doesn't look like I've messed up on ingestion. It seems analogous problems are there for fields 860, 319, and 918 in POSS-I O and Field 308 in POSS-II (all of these are given as spanning more than 9 degrees in declination), and possibly (they are >7 degrees in declination) for 5 and 6 of POSS-II N and 6 of AAO-R. Field POSS-I E/56 ================= The object near 145.39456 20.83361 (record 183256 in 110/b1108.cat) is one of 67 objects south of 60 degrees assigned to Plate 1/56 (the R1 field of the object record is 10 1 056 1410). All those objects are in a small corridor 20.8 and 21.4 degrees, while the boundaries are given as 62.9 .. 69.5 degrees B1950.
