Postgastro is an effort to move most of ARI's astrometry-related FORTRAN-code to C extensions for postgresql. To install the stuff, say, in the project root: make sudo make install psql < postgastro.sql The following functions are provided: * celDistDD(alpha0, delta0, alpha1, delta2), celDistDP(alpha0, delta0, point), celDistPP(point1, point2) -- returns the great circle distance in degresse for the given positions. All values must be in degrees. * movePM(alpha, delta, pmAlpha, pmDelta, fromEpoch, toEpoch) -- returns the position (as a point) of an object at alpha and delta at fromEpoch with pmAlpha, pmDelta at that epoch for toEpoch. The position must be in degrees, the proper motion in deg/yr. * movePMAndPm(alpha, delta, pmAlpha, pmDelta, fromEpoch, toEpoch) -- returns the proper motion for an object at alpha, delta with PM (pmAlpha,pmDelta) at fromEpoch at toEpoch. The PM is returned in deg/yr in a point, with cos(delta) applied. .. vi:et:
